Sally joined NEXTGEN in 2012, when NEXTGEN was 8 people, in sales operations. She has been instrumental in NEXTGEN’s growth and success, being promoted to Sales Operations Manager in 2016. Sally has become the hub and a key custodian of the NEXTGEN Culture & Core Values and Behaviours. Thus, Sally was promoted to Head of Talent, Diversity, and Sales Operations, in late 2019, adding responsibility for recruitment, diversity & inclusion, induction, employee processes & procedures, performance reviews, staff surveys, staff well-being, and staff departures.

Sally supports John Walters in driving and ensuring incremental improvement, cadence, and nurturing of NEXTGEN’s Talent, Diversity, Inclusion, and Culture. Sally was promoted into this role a few months prior to COVID, without any formal HR training, experience or knowledge. She “jumped in at the deep end” and learnt how to swim during the most turbulent and anxious period in recent history.

Sally is the backbone of NEXTGEN's unique culture – she is the go-to person who will go above and beyond for others. Sally has always ensured that the needs of every individual at NEXTGEN are being met. Sally has been in the company for 10 years and during her time at NEXTGEN she has championed and fought to ensure the right people for the job are hired despite their ethnicity, sexual preference or religious beliefs. This has brought an innovative and award-winning culture to NEXTGEN.

Her impact in the NEXTGEN Induction Program is widely admired and ensures all new people get great guidance and obtain a sense of ‘belonging’ immediately. Her introduction of the Buddy System has had a defining impact on the further success of this Program. Sally continues to innovate, establishing the NEXTGEN Zest Awards that recognise team members across the business on a quarterly basis for their contributions to teamwork at the partner, vendor and internal levels.

Sally has built an inclusive culture where employees feel safe, cared for and can share their beautiful cultures with each other. Sally hosts our quarterly International Lunch Days where we celebrate this cultural diversity by sharing food that represents our many backgrounds. Simple but so powerful, this event provides the opportunity to learn about others and leads to a stronger team where people feel understood, accepted and deeply connected.
