MEET JAMES WALTERS, EVP OF NEXTGEN's RECENTLY FORMED INNOVATION & GROWTH TEAM

James started working in IT in 2007 under the stewardship of Peter Kazacos (ARN Hall of Fame) providing clients with personal, investment and corporate advisory services at Kaz Capital. He joined NEXTGEN in 2015, leading the Data Management Business and overseeing the channel growth of vendors such as Arista, Nimble, Rubrik, and Solarwinds, showing an overall growth of >325% in the subsequent 3 years.

It was during this period that James' varied interests and abilities - passion for finance, technology, and commercial realities, his ability to build relationships - matured into the powerful skillset he now deploys to observe, identify and analyse market shifts and trends, and then create models and initiatives to stay ahead.

Consequently, James was tasked to grow NEXTGEN Group’s oSpace business, an innovative, data-driven platform combining data intelligence, lead and demand generation, account-based marketing and sales execution. Under his leadership, it has become one of the most significant ways in which NEXTGEN Group has been able to bring net new opportunities to partners and bring new Vendor challenger brands into the market.

Jame also played a pivotal role in NEXTGEN Group's growing collaboration with Private Equity and Venture Capital firms, such as Telstra Ventures, who take a “Strategic Growth Investment” approach, providing start-ups with rapid revenue growth and global scale. oSpace is a critical cog in this machine, giving start-ups in the SaaS space an immediate and sustainable pipeline of opportunities to start developing their recurring revenue basis.

His success in this complex and competitive environment - understanding and articulating vendor value propositions to the market - has led to his recent elevation as Executive Vice President leading NEXTGEN's recently formed Innovation & Growth team.

In his new capacity, James will leverage his knowledge of emerging trends and advancements to identify innovative technologies in enterprise software, cloud, and security - assessing their potential value for NEXTGEN, potential impact, scalability, growth potential, and fit within the APAC Channel. Working closely with a wide spectrum of stakeholders - Venture Capital firms, vendor leaders, research analysts, and partners - he is building methodologies for expanding and accelerating vendor success across the region.
